So i havent made a new computer in a few years, so im looking from any advice on components that i can get. Ok here is what i have so far

Mobo - Not sure
CPU - E6850 or Q6600
CPU Cooling - Not Sure
Vid Card - 2x EVGA 512 8800GT
Memory - CORSAIR XMS2 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
PSU - PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad
HD - 150gb Raptor 10000 and 500gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
OS - 64bit Home Premium Vista
Sound - Looking for something with Optical Audio
Case - Not Sure

I am not stuck on anything, and im looking for help with pretty much everything. I am not sure what motherboard to go with yet, i just know i want to go with sli. I normally like ASUS or MSI.

I have no clue what case or cooling system to go with.

I was going with the 8800gtx, but then i heard the 8800gt x2 would actually be better.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Yes the 8800gt s would be better than the GTX. The cpu since you are getting 64bit you should go with the q6600. the rest is fine but cooling if you are planning to oc you should get a watercooling system. If not get a case with plenty of fans and an aftermarket cpu cooler. Try Antec 900 or thermaltake armour.

Ya, i was leaning towards the q6600. And i plan to overclock some, but not a lot. I also dont plan on going with watercooling, dont really want to put out the extra cash for it.

Mobo:

- Asus P5N32-E SLI

I would personaly choose EVGA if i would go for SLI

- NF68

Memory:

Would change the memory for crucial or patriot

cooling:

- Thermalright Ultra-120 (for a big OC)
- Freezer 7 Pro ( for a mid OC)

The antec 900 offers great cooling as the above poster said

The rest looks fine!

What makes the NF68 better for sli?

Reply to Dbunten

the 680i is dual 16x speeds
whereas the 650i is only 8x ... the 680i boards also have a few more features it more SATA usb and the like.
Watercooling isnt a good idea most of the air solutions are as good if not better than lower-mid range watercooling and for the hassle its not worth it... stick with what RAMO suggested.
Case Antec900,P182 Coolermaster stacker series, Thermaltake Armour, LianLi A10, A70, A71 or Silverstone TJ0* series.
Other than that your looking sweet

Awesome, thank for the replies so far. I think i have pretty much figured out what im going with now.

I still need a good sound card with a optical audio out. Any ideas? All the ones i have found dont seem to be getting many good user reviews.

Also, would the NF68 be better than the NSI P6N Diamond?

Why change the memory manufacturer?

Drop that Raptor, it's overpriced and doesn't perform as well as the WD AAKS series. I recommend getting two of them, say 250gig and 500gig since they are one of the fastest hd.

Cooling, the Thermalright Ultra 120 is the way to go since you have 2000bucks to burn.

I think with those changes, it should be alright, but I doubt it adds to $2500. More like $1600...

The P5N32-E SLI has onboard audio that has optical and coaxial out so a seperate card isnt needed.
