I am planning on running dual 22" monitors (each at 1680x1050). So if I understand correctly, the combined resolution would be 3360x1050 (2*1680 width, 1050 height).

On Newegg.com, video cards list their max resolution. Is that max resolution per monitor? Because I am considering getting a HD2600XT which is said to have the max resolution of 2560 x 1600. That is less than the combined resolution which is why I need to know if the max resolution the card can output is per monitor/dvi plug or in total.

No, you'd be fine using that card. That is the number per monitor, so you'd be fine.

Yup, I'm running dual monitor right now on a 8800GTS 320MB, and it's all fine and dandy. You won't be able to play most games using that format tho (Supreme Commander being the only exception I can think of). But the extra screen space is wicked awesome when you're multitasking or using two different pages at once.

When you're gaming the game would run on one screen, and whatever else you have on your desktop will be on the other screen. When no gaming you can drag applications across both monitors as if they were one. You'll love it, I'm sure.

What he said. I'm currently running 4 monitors, 20" samsung 204b LCD, 15" LCD and dual Proview 17" CRTs, on a 8800gts and 7300le(2 monitors on each card). i love it

Yeah, I know dual monitors are awesome. At the moment I am using a 19" LCD and a 17" CRT. But I'm planning on trading my 19" for a 20" with my brother (with some monetary persuasion if necessary) and then buying another 20".

Thanks everyone for the clarification on max resolutions.

I got an 8800 GTX and two LCDs at 1680x1050. It's great. The only thing I couldn't get to work is playing TV or movies on a monitor while another monitor plays a game. It works, if the game runs in a window, but it doesn't if the game is maximized.

I have my 8800gts 640 running 2 sammy 931's and it is nice. I have the same issue as the guy with the gtx though, if you initiate a program that runs fullscreen it stops the prg on the other screen. but if I run a movie in a winsow and run game windowed I can run DVD movie and play...>0

Hey, sorry to bump up such an old thread but I have a question.
I'm interested in purchasing a LCD TV to use as a PC monitor, 42" 1080p, and I was wondering if I could use this along with my current 24" monitor, the only thing that makes me wonder is that the TV would run at 1920x1080 and the Monitor would run at 1920x1200, is this an issue?
