New build w/ Win8 - BSOD installing Office 2007

October 30, 2012 2:14:58 AM

When I try to do any of the following - run setup from the office 2007 disk, try to copy the disc contents to the HDD before running setup, or in the last case simply inserting the disk into the DVD drive.

I get a BSOD which doesn't say much other than the OS is gather information and tells me to search for MEMORY_MANAGMENT to learn more.

I've checked the Event Viewer and not much is going on (except for the unexpected shutdown and a BugCheck error which says: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001a (0x0000000000061946, 0xfffffa800d306130, 0x000000000017ad64, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 103012-7921-01.)

I've also ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and everything works fine.

For what it's worth my DVD drive is an external USB drive (which works fine in all other applications including booting).

I tried the disk in another computer and it can copy all contents to that PCs HDD. I also tried accessing/copying the contents of other CDs in the Win8 machine and so far everything works. It's just the MS Office disk. Ideas?
