I have a Yamaha DB50XG midi card, which connects to a "normal" sound card thru a special waveblaster connector. DB50XG is a quite old product, but it's midi sounds are amazing. I've used it connected to my Terratec DMX Xfire 1024 PCI sound card. This has worked fine on Windows XP, but Terratec are not about to release DMX drivers for Vista. So, does anyone know about a Vista compatible sound card that would have a waveblaster connector for midi daughtercards? I couldn't find any, and I'm starting to think there aren't, or won't be any, since waveblaster connectors have never been that usual on sound cards and have perhaps become obsolete?
The Dynex 5.1 sound card which uses the VIA envy24 chip has drivers for vista at VIA and has a waveblaster header. There may also be drivers for vista by now for some of terratec's and turtlebeach's cards now.
Thanks for the info! I will check these out. Terratec has announced it won't release Vista drivers for Terratec DMX Xfire 1024. I am back to XP now 'cos I just couldn't get the Xfire + DB50XG working on Vista.
