Yeah Supply and Demand for idjit who don't know how to go to their local retailer and just buy one. Why would you buy one on eBay shipped from Hong Kong? Notice the DumbA$$ listed the card under "Nvidia-Based Other Brands"

But really now, I was expecting newegg, zipzoomfly, etc to have it up before I went to bed tonight. 2am PST and they're still not on the sites. The supposed $219.99 sounds like a good enough deal to not wait any longer for the 8800GT. Oh well...

Here in UK the war looks something like this:-

8800GT is the better performer, and only £10 more expensive than the HD3870.

However the HD3870 is actually available and in stock.

The 8800GT hasnt bothered showing up... Im guessing that at the moment HD3870 is winning by default...

I am horribly reminded of a nvidia release from a couple of years ago where a card was "released" raved about was in stock for a day then never seen again...

Im finding it hard to believe that the 8800GTX I brought a year ago is still a high end card . I brought it expecting the ATI answer in a month or so to give it a 10% beating, I would have had a good chuckle at anyone who suggested that ATI's newly released top of the range card in a years time still wouldnt touch it for performance .

ive seen people paying $400 for a 8800gt in auctions, all the crysis over the 8800gt that people have forgotten that the 320mb gts is going for like <$300 now
