Hey, thanks for the C2D temperature guide,
any chance you could make it understandable to humans if you have a little time?

Just kidding, thanks really it's a great guide,
but way too confusing, for example near the beginning you state
that in speedfan the cpu temperature is the case temp.
I have a C2D E6320,
but I don't see any cpu temp in speedfan, there's a core and a core1 and core0
So I assume it must be the "core" and the core0 and core1 are the junctions,
but then you state that the junctions are always higher than the case,
what I see for core is 49 and core1 and core0 are 41 each,
so what's going on?

Then I tried the program Core Temp, it shows a single "Tjunction" which is 85 (at the same time speedfan is still showing
49 for "core" )
and also core0 and core1 which are the same is in speedfan.
From the guide I would assume the core1 and core0 are the junctions,
so why does it say TJunction for the single value in Core Temp?

It would be cool if you sort of made the guide more understandable, I'm a power user
but still don't understand it.
So thanks again anyway,

van2

van2, let me be the first to welcome you to Tom's Forums. Congratulations on a magnificent Grand Entrance! You certainly have a flair for words, especially on your very first post, however, I find your choice of title for this thread somewhat less than considerate.

There are many users who do not appear to share your sentiments. The following is but one of many examples: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] formulaire

"I just read Computronix's awesome Core 2 Duo temperature guide. I just completed my first build, so I am a complete n00bie, but trying to learn quickly. Computronix's guide was outstanding!. I did a lot of searching, and there is nothing comparable anywhere else. After reading this I realized that most of the discussions I have seen on Core 2 Duo temperatures are nonsense: many people are comparing apples to oranges! (i.e. comparing someone's Tjunction readings to someone else's Tcase readings). As a n00bie who feels overwhelmed with information that is sometimes not very reliable, all I can say is THANK YOU for taking the time to write this!"

van2, you have proven once again, that in order for one to comprehend, one must focus, concentrate, read thoroughly, and think. It's very obvious that you did not read this document. Had you done so, you would have found the answers to all your questions within the Guide, this thread would certainly not exist as such, and it would not have been necessary for me to spend time writing this rebuttal; time that instead could be devoted to helping others, which is largely what I do here on Tom's Forums.

Due to the rquirements of the topic, the Temp Guide includes a considerable amount of information, so it was never intended to be an entry-level document. I wrote it for intermediate-level overclocking enthusiasts and above. Consequently, some users "get it" on their first read, some users "get it" only after their third or fourth read, and some users will never "get it". However, as you can see from the above quote, there are some "complete n00bs" who are completely capable of comprehending the information contained in the Guide, so the title of your thread is invalid.
The Temp Guide has been a Sticky for over a year, and at more than 285,000 reads, it has by far the highest count among all the Stickies on Tom's Forums. The Guide is also a Sticky on two additional enthusiast websites, but most importantly, it has helped countless thousands of users resolve their temperature problems, which is precisely why I wrote it.

You have no idea how many hundreds of hours of research, composition, editing and updates I have invested in the Guide, all of which is painstakingly thought out. It is not by any means an easy endeavor to balance detail with brevity, contents with simplicity, and relevance with readability. Every Section, every prargraph, every sentence, and every word has been carefully considered.

I am always pleased to help those who are willing to read and learn, and who are also willing to help me help them, however, I will not spoon-feed the information contained in the Guide to anyone who does not fit the above description. The way I see it, I took the time and made the effort to write the Guide, so anyone seeking my help must make an honest effort to read the Guide.

Regardless of your efforts, I am offended by this thread, since the title, clearly visible on the Forum, is very demeaning toward my efforts. In all fairness, this may not have been your intention, however, I respectfully suggest that you consider your words more carefully in future posts.

Van2, CompuTronix obviously spent alot of time on a very informative guide that has helped alot of people solve
their cpu temperature issue, myself included.

Most people will ask a question with repect, being that the guy is trying to help. Additionally, if you don't understand the guide while the majority has, who needs to do the fixing? I don't think it's the guide that has the problem.

Sorry, absolutely didn't mean to offend you, Computronix,
and really appreciate your work. I was just hoping I would'nt have to spend so much time looking into this, seeing how you created this guide, but I'll try reading it again, Thanks agains and sorry about the harsh words, I meant it as a joke. Admins, please remove this thread. Thanks

Will this be a good build to overclock 2500k to 5.0GHz?
