The E6850 is a better choice. It'll overclock more, has a much lower TDP 65W vs. 125W and for a given clock speed Core 2 is about 20% faster than Athlon X2.

Other than the temperature difference (actually you probably won't even notice this), you will not experience any difference in "everyday" use.

If gaming and video encoding is part of your everyday use, then yes you will notice a difference with the C2D being a little faster at stock speed.

Look how far I took my E6600 from stock clock of 2.4GHz all the way to 3.7GHz. I have posted at 4GHz but requires water cooling to make it stable.

I think the kid wants to start a another blue Vs. green fight. Not new to the forum, one would think he knows better.
Please search for almost any other post. The answer has been discussed non stop for a little over a year now.

thanks for all the info, not trying to start anything just caught my eyes lately on amd's cpu pricing but its only a $80 difference. But, i'll wait for X48 and 45nm cpu to come out then the rest will be a lot cheaper...

Nice idea to wait. Just hold your seat till next year. Good bargains will be offered after that. New Phenoms to watch and Yorkfields too
