Please help, computer will not work!!!

having problem with windows configuration. tried to download avast, went thru but error message came windows configuration problem? Even when I downloaded on safe mode, download went thru and I rebooted and was told did not see avast due to configuration windows problem!!! Please help!!!!

this is for my daughter who is in school and needs her desktop to work. I am trying
desperately to help her but I found you guys for help, and I appreciate that.
Contacting my daughter now, but have to wait for her to call me back.. As soon

hi, back now, the exact message received c:/program files/alwil software/avast5/ avastUi.exe, this application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. reinstalling the application may fix this problem. Tried reinstalling avast to know avail, even in safe mode.

First, uninstall all traces of Avast, using revo uninstaller.
http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Then use this program to clean/repair the registry.
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then try downloading and installing Avast again.
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
