I have a Q6600 stock clocked and need help bringing it higher. Could the overclock be limited to memory?
System specs:
Q6600 B3 stepping and the temp is 30C
EVGA 680i mobo
2 gb 533mhz
500w power supply 36amps on 12V
Uhhh, those boards are quite picky when OCing past 315ish FSB... but ya never know, you may be the lucky one!! But you didnt mention how high you wanted to go. That 315ish is like 2.8, hehe.
Its very simple to get to that speed, and you shouldnt need any VCore. Just turn off all the processors options, c1e, speedstep, spread spectrum, disable bit. Unlink the ram and up the fsb to 315ish. (or you could 1:1 the ram.) The only thing I had to do was take the vcore off auto, and set it at its rated value, or it will auto add voltage you SHOULDNT need. ~
Anywho, just a start that should work with minimal adjustments. You'll have to see if you can pull off 333 on your 680i's FSB. Prolly should add a lil vcore at that point, then a lil NB voltage to go higher than 1333.
Basically make sure you increase motherboard voltage for one, dont expect to get anything over 3ghz voltage goes mad. Put 1.4v at 3ghz using 9x multi at all times. If thats not stable increase motherboard voltage until it is. Then work your way down on CPU voltage.
These boards hate quads.

::chuckles.:: Well good, it looks like my b3 is hating on 3.6. I CAN get it stable, but at a VCore VDrooped to 1.52, hehe. Sooo.... the 84c cores under full loaded small ftts scared me, so here I am at 3.4, and it only gets to 80 under full load, but hey, its stable, and I doubt anything I use will run all four at 100%
So right now I am sitting at 1.48 volts, drooped to 1.43/44.
Owww!
