Woke up early this morning and went straight to newegg. nothing.
checked every 15min. no stock. Then I go to lunch, sure that they are not going to come out till the 19th, even though all the NDA's were lifted today.
damn the fact that I asked for newegg giftcards for my b-day. I am utterly dissapointed.
What happened to the THG article about ati having no stock issues with this card? and the reviews I've read state that the availability of this card is supposed to be good.
I haven't even excercised a bowl movement today in anticipation of this card being posted-- and then POOF! its gone.
the 8800gt's were in stock longer than the 3870's!!!!!
if anyone needs me, i'll be in the bathroom.

You know, there are other shops who still has 3870, if you want to buy it. Some sites hadnt even time to place them online - cards were launched just few hours ago, or launch still few days away? Unless ofc you just want to troll, so go ahead and sorry for disturbing you
In my opinion, they always overstate the availability. Word was the nVidia was supposed to have 200,000-300,000 out by the end of they year. Word is that ATI/AMD is supposed to have ~500,000 out by the end of the year.
Dude, your an idiot. ATi isn't having stock problems; newegg is. Newegg won't have to wait for another batch of cards from ATi to be made, they have to wait for them to be shipped. nVidia on the other hand...well, newegg has to wait for the 8800gt to be made and then shipped. But they are having some sort of problem with the 8800gt, because otherwise they would be making them a lot quicker.
Look at their prediction on pricing and performance in that article; it was spot on. So how do you not believe "this crap" when it is true? Think before you type...
Sapphire 3870 in stock at new egg this very moment for $219. I just ordered mine! Upgrading from a 7800gt that is struggling with native resolution of my monitor (1280by1024). By the way, I was signed up for auto notify but never received my message for this card. I just so happened to check back "just to make sure".
Wow monsterrocks- if you could not tell i was joking with this thread, well the dissapointment was real, but the anger wasnt.
I understand how supply and demand work, but when i read that ati will be launching with about 6x the amount of cards than nvidia it makes me a bit peeeved when I cannot find them anywhere on launch day...a stark difference from the 88oogt launch--which i had several chances to buy on the day of release.
if you scour these forums you will see that newegg sold out of the initial run of 3870 in 25 min, and many other sites did the same.
So I am not an 'idiot' for posting my disbelief that ati launched with 6x the amount of cards than nvidia, the may have they may not have--it just doesnt seem that way--and im not the only one that felt this way!
on a differernt note-
Thanks cappster as I did go back to newegg and picked up one of the sapphires! thanks for being a help and not condemning joking posters.

I didn't think the 38xx series was supposed to launch until Monday, officially. The 19th, with their CPU's and motherboards. Neither of them are officially launched and they were all supposed to launch at the same time....

It was pushed-up to the 15th like a week-and-a half ago.
