Hello,

I would like to get comments on my AMD budget gamer I am building for my stepson. I am going with the AMD for cost reasons and since I am a longtime AMD user (would otherwise go Intel). Any comments are welcome. Especially on the CPU, which I went back and forth between the X2 6000+ Windsor or the 5000+ Brisbane (65nm unlocked). Here are the main components:

Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2

RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

Video: EVGA 256-P2-N761-AR GeForce 8600GTS 256MB

Thanks in advance!

Looks great. I 2nd the 5000+ black. I'm running it at 3ghz at stock volts. If you overclock, get this ram:

I like the way the 5000 blackie performs. It makes me think I should have waited a little while. Ahhh...oh well, we all think that.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I did decide to go with the 5000+ Black Edition for the overclocking. I will look into the ram recommendation akhilles

Crucial Ram is great for overclocking.

If this is a gaming PC I'd forget about the 8600GTS and go for the 8800GT 512MB. I second the Crucial Ballistix RAM or even their value RAM is good for mild OC's.
