Hi Guys,

I've been looking at building my own NAS storage for home.

I want to be able to have it work with my PS3 and my Win7 machine. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Operating Systems, and/or software I could use. Looking for something secure. I'm not a big Linux/Unix user, so if you have a suggestion regarding those OSes, would you also be able to recommend software for securing it? ie firewall/antivirus/malware etc.

Thanks.

So do I have to use the RAID support it provides, or can I use the motherboards?

Personally I would use the RAID support built in to ZFS. You may find that your motherboard's RAID only works with Windows.
