I have searched far and wide, even google. I ordered my MSI NX8800GT OC from BUY.COM on 10/29. The DAY of release. And I am going on my 4th week of waiting (next week). I have read of people ordering today 11/15 and receiving a tracking number? What gives? I'm currently e-mailing BUY.COM for some answers. Does anyone know of a global restock date? I'm very close to dumping Nvidia over what should never have been an issue. When you know you product is going to sell very well, like the 8800GTX did etc. why would you make so few units? What is the logic behind making a supposed 40,000 units? Did the author of Harry Potter only make 40k books after her first book was a hit? NO, they made a bunch and sold all of them, and made tons of money. I hope Nvidia realizes how much money they have lost because of their weak attempt of releasing their product with so little numbers. Anyways, does anyone know of a restock date of any site anywhere? I thought it was supposed to be this week.

i think the 8800gt was just nvidia's way of clearing out the factories for the 9x cards or the dual core cards

Doubtful. As much as I'd like to see a new card, 8800GT and the enhanced 8800GTS (coming soon) are as good as we are gona get for quite some time =,(

If NV fails to get large batches of these cards out soon, ATI is going to be quite happy this Q4 season.

Update, called Frys on Nov 16th about 8:15 AM EST. They said they were supposed to get their 8800GT's in today but didn't. So I asked her the golden question, When? She responded with 2 weeks. I'm gonna call NewEgg and see what they have to say, Buy.com still hasn't responded to my e-mail.

Another update NewEgg does have 8800GT's in stock, but not my MSI one here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814127311

Problem is the prices are INSANE compared to MSRP's. What I REALLY don't understand, and REALLY makes me very BENT is the fact that Since I payed on 10/29 day of release, I only payed $240 yet overtime the prices quickly rose to neweggs $300 price point and how the hell did the reviewers at newegg pay the later increased premium price and received theirs first, while im stuck on the this damn island although technically I'm ordering form a different place (buy.com) I was first in line. I literally could not have ordered the thing any quicker.

just ordered EVGA 8800GT last night from newegg. Yeah the price is $300 - $50 more than MSRP. This one comes with Crysis included to its $300 price without a doubt since I was going to buy that game anyway.

I snapped, couldn't take it, how could I waste a beautiful 4 day weekend coming up with a 9800 pro. I actually bought a BFG 8800GT OC from BB. (Do a little bit of 4x4 action, some mountain biking, big feast, then relax to some high quality graphics)It was $279.99. But.....I had a $40 dollar gift card from a year ago laying around bringing my total to $256.00 w/tax As far as my MSI NX8800GT, what would you guys recommend? Stick with it, when it comes in, ebay it (maybe even make a little profit off of it, I only payed $240 with a $50 credit=$190). Or should I just cancel it. Im leaning with keeping and selling when it comes in. I'm sure it would do good on ebay, or if anyone else would be interested in it.

Whooo , lucky sunday today, BB just dropped the BFG 8800GT OC to 249.99. Yea I bought it yesterday for 279.99 but they said they will credit me, bringing my total cost to only $226.79. I think I will cancel that order from b**.com.

hi!
i just got my 8800gt a day back.here in bombay, where i stay ,the shops have a healthy stock of 8800gt cards -from these brands:xfx, galaxy, gigabyte & asus.
i got a galaxy 8800gt with all the characteristics of a reference card.i got it for 12500INR(250US$x50--actually its 38INR to a $ but they add taxes and import duties here in india)the costs are comparable to the 250 US $ as specified by nvidia but unlike what newegg.com has priced the 8800gt for.i'm very very happy with this card and its the perfect replacement for my old xfx 6600gt 256mb card.but the card runs really hot and i've posted the pictures on these following links,do have a look.will post the benchmarks soon.

as you can see the card when idle runs at 58 degrees and after an hour of medal of honor airborne it went upto 82 degrees-the cpu was running @ 48degrees and the chipset temperature was 39 degrees-this makes me uneasy-bcoz i would want to overclock my 8800gt.i am looking for some good 3rd party cooling solutions for this card.anyone know of any good vga cooler??

that's the normal temp of that card (it can get even hotter), if you see some reviews, in all of them you'll see that the temp at load is something around 90. Video cards get hotter than cpu's.

A 3rd party cooler wouldn't be bad thought.

Get Riva Tuner 2.06. You'l be able to adjust the shader freq. also.

@Sunny. Nothing wrong with those temps, infact they are lower than some to compare. 51c idle - 79c load here. I seem to have bough a lucky card or it's because my case opens to the right side, exposing the motherboard "upside down", in effect, turns the card right side up - fan pushing the heat upwards. Is this your case?
