About two weeks ago my power supply dies, I just thought it was my it was my ps so I bought a new one. This weekend my new one dies, so I get another and start testing everything in my computer to see whats killing it. I figured out that my its my hard drive. Now when I try to turn on a computer with my hard drive plugged in the computer turns on for a milisecond and then just shuts off, draining the power supply so much that it takes a few mins before I can start it without the hard drive hooked up. Any idea on why is would do this?

Hard drive- Seagate Barracuda 250 Gig 7,200 RPM
500 W power supply

Power supply, make/model matter, they are NOT all the same! That PSU is a bit cheap for a 500W. Your HD may be faulty and drawing too much power, causing the PSU to trip its overload protection. This can usually be reset by turning off at rear or wall socket for 15 seconds, then reconnect. If a spare HD works, RMA the other one. If no change, PSU is not good enough.
