My e8400 is o/c to 3.6GHz (400*9)
now if I watch CPUz Whilst the CPU is idle I see the speedstep kick in
and I see the reading drop to 2.4GHz (400*6)
Before I overclocked, the CPU would happily sit at 2.0 GHz (333*6) whilst idle.

But now when it drops to the 6* multiplier, it immediately ramps back up to the 9* multiplier.

What's going on? Anyone else seen this behaViOr?

probably doesn't throttle back as far anymore since you overclocked... my speedstep is disabled so I'm not sure what mine does.

I agree it doesn't throttle back as much. What I'm getting at is the processor seems to display an inability to hold the 6* multiplier.
Like it's SCARED of it perhaps.
It doesn't cause any instabilities, but I like my speedstep, and I'd like it to work.
