Q6600 with P35 DS3L

I am building a new system with a C2Q Q6600 and a Gigabyte P35-DS3L.

Is this motherboard sufficient and a good enough board to overclock the proc to 3.0 on air?

3.0ghz on air is fairly easy, you should have no problem with that motherboard

I have this mobo and a q6600 at 3.5. Be aware that the built in temperature feature that reduces the multiplier to six (yes, I know what speedstep is and I am not talking about it) when the chip gets too hot triggers at just 61-62 degrees. Of course you can disable it, but if you aren't experienced overclocking this would be a bad idea. 3 ghz should be cake though with most coolers.
