Hey, guys we'll. I see there is the 8800GT and the HD 3870. Now my Qestion is would i see a differnce in games like Company of hero's Opposing Front's from dx10 and dx9 because. the 3870 looks like a real good deal. to me. plus i wanna turn up some of my games to the max. i can on some games and some i can have up to med/high and some high/maxxed. and it would nto cost much. because i could sell my powercolor with x2 cooler for like $80 or clsoe to there. and it would cost me about $100 or $130. but that anit a bad deal to me i dont think. but let me know what i should do.

Thanks for your help
Brian

Go for the 3870 but pay no more than $230 for it. I've been waiting and will be waiting for over a month for my 8800GT, you don't want to deal with that. (That and with my luck if you did find a 8800GT I bet you would get it before me.) But for $230 and with 8800GT stock being low for the next month or two (prices will still me high grade). Save yourself the trouble and snatch a 3870, you'll like what it can do.

i got my 8800GT for $250..i was lucky...

As of now...you can get at lowest prices:

3870 - $220
8800GT - $270

8800GT performance at about 15% faster on average. Price : Performance are about equal. Both cards are great. Having said that, Nvidia cards have LIFETIME warrenties, which are very very important to me....so either:

- Wait a couple of weeks to see if prices go down on 8800GT and get IF the price goes down
- Buy a Powercolor/Visiontek 3870 card now for $220 (these are the only 2 ATI card companies that have lifetime warrenty)
- Or pre-order and wait a bit for the 8800GT at its current price of $270

PS: i love Nvidia card companies better these days..XFX & eVGA service is better imo.

Crossfire gains and even support will vary by game. I assume anyone on crossfire will be eagerly anticipating each new driver release. I'm looking to do dual 3870's myself, but it won't be cheap considering the mobo I want (X38).

Also, the amount of video ram you need will vary too. Notice in these two games, the pair of 256MB 3850's match the 8800GTX at every resolution. This may not happen in other games though. Quite impressive start though. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3151&p=10
