my motherboard ( gigabyte 915G Duo ) supports 533mhz ddr2 ram. can i put 667mhz ddr2 ram in it? will it cause any problem.

no it wont cause any problem, it will run at 533mhz speed.

smoke will sprew out of the ddr2 ram slots and your northbridge will blow up and destroy your computer......sike....no nothing will happen. You will just end up ocing your fsb . Might get your northbridge alittle warmer than normal depending on your setup.

Sorry for the second post. But. Forgot soemthing to add.

A. you could get the motherboard ocing itself to 677 to keep up with the ram. (Which is what id do)

or

B. Just run your ram at 533

i have no idea. my motherboard(gigabyte 915g duo) supports ddr2 533/600 and ddr1 400/333 ram. the manual says if u want to run ddr2 600 (not 667) ram then u have to run 800fsb processor and overclock in bios.

bought that long time ago but yes its 2GB ddr2 667. brand is transcend jetram.
