I am assuming that you are going to reuse your SATA HDD and DVD drive? I built my system with only one IDE connector with 2 devices on it. That was a real pain until I upgraded my HDD to a SATA model. The problem came from the mounting locations of the HDD and DVD, they were too far apart to use a normal IDE ribbon cable, so I was forced to mount the HDD under the DVD drive... not fun at all. That simple issue almost prevented me from building.

I can't wait to get a Phenom X4 and a 8800GT - My system will be awesome then.

What OS are you going to use? I personally recommend Vista Home Premium. Its new and SP1 will be out soon. No use in buying 2 OS'es (XP now, then Vista later) within a year...

I have XP pro and will use that for a while until Vista has a SP update. I got time to wait anyway. I got a SATA HDD picked and a SATA DVD burner.

That looks like a pretty solid build. Are you going to OC that CPU? If so, you may want to invest in an aftermarket cooler.

Oh no no no, this is going to be a vanilla build. No overclocking for me. Maybe on the second build

I may suggest an E6750 then. Check this thread out - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] difference - That guy also had an E6400 and upgraded to the E6850 w/ pretty nice results.

Ok, color me confused. The 6420 is the same, but with a larger cache, and costs $5 less, why not run with it?
