remote file access

I know next to nothing about networks and such; but I was wondering if it would be possible to take an old computer, store my music on it, and then access it from miles away while I am at college through the internet. If so I was wondering what it would take to set this up and make it work. thanks - the noob

use Hamachi.. i don't have the link handy right now, but bascically it's a zero config vpn client. Install hamachi on both computers, and then create a network on the old computer.. give it a name and password, and then join that nework on your other computer. It will work like they are on the same home network

the great thing about Hamachi is that you need to know NOTHING but basic computing skills in order to set it up
