My computer "windows vista" was infected and antivirus was expired. I go out and buy Kaspersky AV 2011 and after a painful install finally get the scan to clean my system. I also have added two 1 gig sticks of RAM.

All is goin well for a day or so. After a Kaspersky system scan and restart all I have now is a black screen "Missing operating system"

I have entered cmd prompt, tried chkdsk. I have removed the new RAM. I have run Kaspersky rescue disk. None of this works.

I was wondering if anyone may know of something else I can try?

ty guys but everything off window disk is no good.

Repair doesn't work.
Restore finds no previous restore point.
Reinstall the key code is worn off the sticker and my noob @$$ didn't write it down.
Find hardware and memory errors doesn't work.

It looks like my only chance is CMD prompt which maybe another problem. When I open CMD from window disk the directory is "X" . I have two partitions C ahd H. H holds OS and C holds everything else. Shouldn't the directory be "H" ?

k so
X: /sources>

I'm thinking hmmmm I type C: , that brings up my C: directory :D
so now I chkdsk /r

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is being run by another Process. blah blah. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? <YorN> Y

The chkdsk begins...........

I'll get back with the results.
