hello

i am considering upgrading my agp system and would like to know what is a good card for a little over 100 dollars
i have the x1650 series and the HD2400pro in mind(yes i can get em for 100 bucks and they will work with my setup)
the card must be able to play battlefield 2142 and command and conquer 3. really i guess the question is whether i should upgrade to dx 10 or not..... im not sure so any help or opinions would be great.
one last thing: upgrading to pci-e is not an option at the moment....dont ask why...

You would be best served by scrounging up another $15-20 and getting a HD2600XT. Alot more for the money than any $100 card.

Under $100, you are looking at a GDDR3 X1650GT or HD 2600 pro at best if you are lucky.

Watch out for GDDR2 X1650's (pro, vanilla) as they are more plentiful but slower than the GDDR3 cards. Also, the X1650GT is better than the X1650 pro even if both ahve GDDR3.

Sticking under $100 at newegg, you can't even get the X1650GT. You are looking at the 7600GS and GDDR2 X1650 pro. Only one I would consider is this on. AT $65 shipped after rebate, it's priced much better than the $90+ ones. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Otherwise I still like the HD2600XT if you can swing it. What are your system specs right now?

this is just off the top of my head here...
Specs are
P4- 2.8 ghz with hyper threading technology
Abit IS7 motherboard
antec power supply- believe its 350watt....
ati radeon 9600 Pro(see why i need an upgrade)

i just need a card that can play those two games and a few newer ones(like call of duty 4 maybe). this card only has to last at least for a few years cuz thats when i get to go get a new comp for college, then this one gets demoted to just homework duties and minor gaming.... hence why i dont want to spend too much money on it....

Best buy has the 512mb hd 2600 pro on sale ($99.00) during black friday so i just need to know if its worth standing out side or just trying to get a different card on like ebay or newegg....

Stand outside if you want to but here is a HD2600pro-512 for $95, no tax, free shipping, no standing outside in line:

Unless $100 is a really firm cap I'd be tempted to go the XT instead of the PRO. The XT is around 50% faster. Don't let the RAM fool you BTW. You only need a lot of RAM if you are running large textures at high res and the only way you can do that is if your monitor is high res and you card is fast enough to push those high res graphics. The 256 XT will stomp the 512 PRO.
