Hi, I'm sure this is an easy question... I'm fairly new to poking around inside my machine, its not quite as scary in there as I thought!
I've just upgraded to a new, higher power PSU. All went well. The only difficulty I had is that one of the cables from the new psu is more or less replacing TWO of the cables from the stock PSU.
This cable has 3 thin connectors (not the larger 4 pin one), that should be running up to my two optical drives then all the way down to my HD. Its simply not long enough.
So basically I can only reach one optical drive and my HD. I need a an extension with a male end and a female end so it can reach the remaining optical drive. I've searched Newegg as well as the web, hoping to find what exactly this cable is called (I'm sure this is like one of the most basic terms too, ugh)... not much luck and there are obviously a million cables / adapters out there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with a name or link? I'd appreciate it!
The link below is to a 4-pin molex to SATA power adapter, that may suit your needs. I bought from cooldrives.com a while ago and they seem decent. If this won't work, keep looking through their site to find the exact part, their inventory is pretty comprehensive. It would be best if you could say what type of power interface your HD uses(4-pin molex which is used by most older HDs, or sata used by newer HDs), that would make it easier to help. Good luck.
