Well,

It seems the crysis release has gone less than smoothly. If you head over to the EA website and go on to the crysis forums you will see what I mean. All hell has broken loose.

Several ingame bugs, which tbh is to be expected BUT this is nothing in comparison to the issues people are having with just getting th game on to their systems. CAB file errors, DVDs making dodgy noises etc. Also reported problems with Vista and x64.

Im glad I held off pre ordering. Was going to go into town and get it after work but I think I am going to hold off till next week and see what happens.

What are your thoughts?

I got my copy this afternoon. No problems at all. Smooth sailing all the way.

Electronic Arts is notorious for this kind of stuff. I really liked the demo, but figured that something like this would happen. Give EA two or three years and this should all be sorted out, and hey, by then we'll all have computers that can run the game at very high settings!

I've lost respect for EA after they launched SimCity 4 with TONS of bugs.

EA Games: Ship now, patch later.

"Ship Now Patch later" is what happens when CEOs buy their Porsches and then realise that the engineers need to get paid.

It's the beginning of the end!
November 16, 2007 5:33:17 PM

Installed last night and played for two hours. No problems.
November 16, 2007 5:47:56 PM

it seems its fine for some people. My bro was running everything on very high on vista 64bit. 1024/768 with perfectly playable frame rates. I thought sod it and went and bought it. Gunna install it when the girlfriend lets me :)  I'll let you know how it goes. Wish me luck!

People who don't RTFM deserve everything they get. They tell you to disable virus scanners and turn off all background programs. :pt1cable:

November 16, 2007 6:58:58 PM

I get about 40fps AVG running @ 1280x1024 (medium settings), WINXP, AMD 4000+ S939 (single core),2GB Corsair,8800GTS320. Not bad i suppose.
November 16, 2007 7:24:33 PM

I am pretty far in the game and no crashes at all, no sound issues. I am at the part where I am infralstrating "I know I just spelled that wrong but, whatever" the camp on top of mountain. The part after you blow up the second jamming device. 45 fps avg 1280x1024 (medium settings) Vista Ultimate 32bit

November 16, 2007 7:47:59 PM

I bought the game this morning and the only problem I've had (same as the demo) is when I go to start it I just get a black screen like it's starting to load but doesn't go beyong that. I've found that every time I start it I have to hit ctrl+alt+delete and open task manager and then close it and the game starts, wierd. As for gameplay it works great it's just that startup thing that's annoying. Also sometimes when I start it it opens in a window instead of fullscreen and I have to go into options and change it. I get 25-35FPS with everything on very high at 1280x1024 with the system in my sig.
November 16, 2007 7:48:48 PM

with my system in the sig I have had one crash about 4 hours in, so I took my memory timings back up from 4-4-4-10 to their rated 4-4-4-12, and increased one voltage in my bios and the entire system is actually more stable. Im running 1440x900 res with medium detail except I have high pot effects on as well as high physics on and it runs decent. I havent looked at the FPS because I dont want to know, but it is playable and looks great. I am running it on vista premium 32bit, and I love the game! lol

Best,

3Ball

interesting, i have the same socket except a 4200+ OC @ 2.6ghz, so i bet if i join the 8800gt camp, i could also get those numbers, and here i thought my pc was old.
November 16, 2007 8:03:34 PM

I've got my 4000+ oc'd to 2.8.
November 16, 2007 8:15:36 PM

would you consider it a bug if there are already like 25 multiplayer hacks out there some of witch have been downloaded over 30,000 times.

Are you sure? Cause in my manual it says if you get a virus, then
go to command prompt and type in "format c:".

:p
November 17, 2007 9:43:02 AM

well, I installed it last night. Autorun didnt work and I just got an app crash. I then browsed the CD and ran the setup manually, worked fine.

Install took a while but no errors. It didn't place any icons on my desktop or startmenu, which is confusing.

Can't launch in 64bit mode, screen goes black and I get another appcrash. All works fine afaik in 32bit tho. I am vista 64bit btw.

I have everything set on medium, except shaders/shadows/water at 1024/768 and its mostly playable fps wise. It just doesn't look anywhere near as good as I was expecting. I suppose thats because its running in dx10 and 4xAA on all the vids iv seen. It even kinda looks pixely.

My specs,

Q6600 @ 2.4ghz stock
Asus P35 mobo
4gb DDR2 800 corsair
7800GT
November 17, 2007 5:14:50 PM

thanks for the warning was gonna get it this afternoon
November 17, 2007 9:49:54 PM

Mine runs fine, I am now at the shipyard and haven't had a single problem.

X1900xtx, XP, E4300 OC'ed to 2.8Ghz, 2 MB Ram - great game so far.

Just bought an ASUS Maximus Formula SE , Q6600, and waiting for ATI 3870(at least 1, maybe 2) to become available
November 18, 2007 3:35:37 AM

Yah no problems here alomost at part where I am fighting aliens, I think lol. I am in night time now.
November 18, 2007 9:37:38 AM

I just got in to the frozen bit. FPS has totally died. 2-4 at most. arrrrgh.

To be honest, its to be expected. I will continue playing when my 700mhz 8800GT arrives.
November 18, 2007 10:10:42 AM

Hcforde 2mb of ram lol.
November 18, 2007 12:15:29 PM

1680 x 1050, 30 odd FPS
Only one weird thing where the game slowed and mouse died but i'm guessing that's not game related
November 19, 2007 3:17:10 AM

The Great Crysis Bug/Problem Thread

Why is this thread in the CPU. Last time I heard Crysis is a game, and not a code-name for a CPU.

There is a games section you know.
November 19, 2007 5:23:10 AM

i just finished the game and it's fantastic.........
best experience in a long-long time....

Wheres the so called in game performance test, people have talked about using it but I don't see any performance for testing the graphics settings.

You haven't read the read me file have you? If you did you'd know that you have to turn off all anti-virus software before trying to install Crysis. Slow down and do some basic research. How the hell do you get a virus installing a game? Disable your internet then install your game.

running crysis on a fx-60 @ 2.939, 2 gigs of corsiar xms ddr400 @ 452, HT bus 2.0 @ 1130 (2260 effective) pci-e @ 2825 ghz, single 8800gtx (until me second one gets here next week) on a 1920x1080 with 2x smothing under windows xp with the directx 10 patch/hack alowing high settings to look like very high in vista. i get about 23 fps (dips in the teens in some areas) the screens are beautiful and there is a noticable differance worth the drop in fps.for you xp users who want the direct x 10 effects i urge you to find the patch on fileplanet...drops your frames a bit but not as bad as vista users running the game as "native" directx 10. heres a link get it while u still can. it was originally to unlock diectx ten in the demos but it works of the full game as well....

my son beat the game in a day and a half on delta mode. No glitches at all with the game. But he surprised me for finishing the game so quick, now he is modding the thing.
November 19, 2007 10:49:42 AM

I will be starting work on a map as soon as iv taught myself sandbox. In my opinion there isn't enough jungle warfare in multiplayer. I am aiming for a Valley type scene. Both teams start at either side of the valley and have to make their way down through jungle to get to some clearings where the factories etc will be located. Obviously there will be some pretty rivers and waterfalls etc :)

How old is your son ?

November 20, 2007 8:24:28 AM

Yer i finished the game in a day on delta mode, once you get to grips with the controls its far too easy not mention the further i progressed into the game the more the bugs appeared. It was like there was a point you could see where EA had taken over development.... as for the bugs they were frustraiting as hell, it baisically came down to having to reload because the game storyline refused progress. These problems occured wen killing the enemy they didnt actually die instead they became frozen & impossible to kill. So the enemy was baisically dead just the game hadnt registered it thus refusing to progress the storyline.. Near the end it got to the point where i had to quick save it after every enemy death in fear of the bug..... muchos annoying!
November 28, 2007 6:09:56 PM

I had a bug where you are at the end , on the ship , you travell down the flight deck BIG elevator to get to the rods part , but you walk thru the coridor and you fall into the see like the floor wasnt there!.. restarted the level and worked ..
funny thou .. all the men with me also fell in the sea and drowned

Keep in mind that he is running this under DX9 not DX10. DX10 will destroy even 8800 SLI. I'd say the person running at 1920 is NOT using Vista. I have seen no combination of HW that will run DX10 CrySis at 1900.

Thats cause like the rest of us, he only finished one/third of the game...., this is all EA's doing! :kaola:  :kaola:
November 28, 2007 7:56:00 PM

my torrent worked fine, haha
November 28, 2007 8:26:25 PM

I had trouble getting it to run in Vista64, but once I did get it to work it runs fine with no bugs. Funny thing is, I don't know why it suddenly started working, and I couldn't begin to help someone else with the same problem. Go figure.
