Replacing Giga K8NS system

Right. The memory controller on my Giga GA-K8NS Pro appears to have gone tits up. I don't game, I do some photo touchup and disc burning. My K8NS has these specs:

AMD Atlon 64 3000+
ATI Radeon 9550
ANTEC 430 W PSU
PQI 1 GB PC3200 RAM
Samsung Spinrite 250GB SATA
Maxtor 80GB ATA
Maxtor 160GB ATA
NEC 3540A DVD-RW
Lite-On LTN486S
NEC Floppy
CoolerMaster Praetorian case.

Basically, I just want to replace the mobo and any NECESSARY peripherals. So that excludes SLI, Quad Core, and all that fluff. I'd prefer to stay with AMD, but if someone can give a convincing reason to go Intel, I'll consider it.
Suggestions?
