I'm upgrading my rig soon and I can't decide if I should get two 8800 GTS 640MB or a single 8800 GTX 768. Would the graphic gain be worth dropping the X38 chipset and grabbing the 680i?

-Thanks

X38 currently can't do SLI, so your only option is the 680i. Please don't spend your money on GTXs or GTS, the 8800GT is out which is almost as fast as a GTX for $270-280, so you could get SLI GT and beat the GTX for about the same price.

I'd at least wait until early december when the new 8800 GTS' are suppose to be released and then decide. By then hopefully the GTs will be available so you can make a choice not based on supply between the new GTS, GT, and 3870 (which I think deserves consideration still for it's cheap CrossFireX options down the road with other 3870s or more powerful Radeon cards that come out).

2x 3850s will beat the 8800gtx

Now thats what I call a crapshoot. The 2 3850's beat the GTX occasionally and that is only if the game supports crossfire. Otherwise the GTX is better hands down. Then again, 2 8800GT's will lay the smack down on the gtx and the 3850's.

Agreed with dual 8800GT. Unless you got money to burn then get the GTX
