Happy Friday,

I'm a first time builder and would like to do the Intel E2160 overclock described in the Tom's document on "$89 Pentium Dual Core that Runs at 3.2 GHz".

The Tom's article suggested using a Gigabyte P35-DS3P motherboard  or a P35-DS3.  These motherboards only support two IDE devices.

I have a bunch of old functioning hard drives - all IDE - which I would like to put in the case.

Would I be better off getting a SLI motherboard which supports up to 4 IDE devices or a motherboard like the article recommended and then putting in an IDE controller card to add additional IDE drives?

Thank you for your assistance!

Don't be scared off by the lack of ide/pata connectors on the intel chipsets. It's kinda standard to go with 1. nVidia chipsets usually have 2. You can always get a cheap pci ide/pata cards for all your old harddrives & hook up the optical drives to the mobo.

akhilles, right most of the new better mobo only have 1 ATA and you can always get a card.  Right the P35 mobo is really the way to go and reading some stuff on the X38 and sounds like if your not into serious overclocking, it'll be the best board for a while and the price is good
