More Information

I've finally put enough money asside to put together a machine which should run the next gen games ok, but I'm at the final point..which card?
My screen in a Samsung SyncMaster 940N (19" ) max res is 1280x1024. I wont be able to change this for some time.
On this point I'm wondering which card would be best today, the 8800gt or the new top range ATI. I had an ATI several years ago and had nothing but problems with driver compatabilities...i had to go out and get an Nvidia.
Things I'm sure have changed.
I've read several reviews on both cards, but I dont really understand half of it. Will the DX10.1 really make a visual difference to the DX10 for example at this screen resolution? I'm more towards Nvidia as I've never had any real problems with them before, but ATI appears to have launched two good challengers.
Games I play are Tabular Rasa, CoD4...and like all Crysis..once I get a card which will make it worthwhile.
Appreciate your feedback ;)
