More Information

i have a MSI k9a2 platinum mobo (amd AM2+ phenom processor).

it has 6 internal SATA connectors - 4 on the SB600 controller , and two on a promise t3 chip.

when i connect two disks to the promise connectors, the fastbuild BIOS utility allows me to build a raid-1 mirrored pair.

when i install XP pro (including the F6-install promise RAID driver), it seems to work.

i have installed the webPAM utility, and this appear to pick up the promise controller.
it shows the status of the mirrored pair, and if i remove a disk, then re-isntall it, web PAM says the raid=1 mirror is being rebuilt.

thats fine, but i cannot manually control the add/remove disk, re-mirror process.

now, when i connect disks to the sb600 conectors, they do not appear in the fastbuild bios screens.

when i install XP (with the F6-install sb600 raid drivers), i have no idea whether RAID is working or not.

The webPAM utility appears to pick up both the promise and sb600 controllers, but does not give much detail on the mirrored pair on the sb600.

does anyone know of any proper management software for raid-1 mirrored pairs that will allow me to remove/add disks from a mirrored pair, check the status of a pair, etc.

i would like two raid pairs - one for windows xp, one for user data.

the k9a2 platinum says it supports raid on the sb-600 and promise t3 chip, but without management software, its pretty useless - would you trust a system to protect data without any management visibility of what its doing?

i have asked MSI tech support this question also. i will cross post any reply i get.

thanks for any reply.
