I need a little help. I am building a new system and I was wondering if I went with a raid setup I would see a very noticable increase in performance.
Presently My sytem is a Intel setup with the following:
Intel 6750 with a tuniq tower on it
4gb crucial ballistic ram
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R this board supports raid 0/1/5/ and 10
One Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB Serial ATA II 7200RPM
8800gtx video card
corsair 520w power supply

I was going to run a single hard drive but I have enough room for another drive and I was thinking about going raid 0 and hooking up an external hardrive to save important files to in case I lost one of the two raid drives. Can I set it up this way

I have aero experience with raid setups and if there will be little perfromance gained I will go with a single drive and leave it alone. Any recommendations will be appreciated!!

Thanks
Rob

I experimented with it once. It's pretty easy to setup.

I think it's overrated though. If you want the performance, then by a raptor and use it for windows/software and your 250gig drive for storage.

Personally if I setup RAID again, I would go for RAID 1. File security is more important to me than the little extra performance.
