Hey I have a Dell 4600 (crap i know) but here's the thing...it came with two drives, and 2 years ago I replaced one and put in a DVD drive, now yesterday I got two DVD drives from newegg so I went about replacing the drives once more.
Installation was simple naturally but then when I went to boot up the computer I got an error message saying secondary slave drive failure or something of that sort, the computer also beeps once. The only way for me to not see this error is to continue using the original drive that came with the desktop (i can use a new dvd drive along with it).
Now I'm wondering if the cause of this is the bios as dell may have it configured to detect the original drive...I'm using Dell Bios Revision A10 for the Dell 4600...any solutions or suggestions? Thanks guys.
Edit: Discount this post...I got it fixed...I realised I had both drives set to master on their respective jumper.
