I've been searching around trying to find some info on this card, and it seems like the well dried up around the end of October. Has anything official been said about it, or does everything out there boil down to the rumor mill? Are the specs and December 3rd launch date set by Nvidia, or is this just casual musing?
I ask because right around the beginning of December I plan to do a complete build from the ground up. If the new/g92 GTS will be around at that time, I'll spring for one. If they're going for the $300-$350 that's being stated, I'll spring for two!
That being said, is the supply situation of the 8800GTS g92's going to be a repeat of the 8800GT fiasco?
It's gotta be G92. eVGA has already issued a 112 ssp GTS. Indeed, with the 8800GT out there, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they released another g80 GTS. IMHO, the g80 GTS is tired and in much need of replacement.
The general consensus is that the card is releasing Dec. 3rd. So, should I be up at 11:59 PM on New Egg, constantly hitting the refresh button until one comes up? Will there be any official announcement of the release anytime before the actual date?

Neisonater: In a word, yes, it will be better than the 8800GT (probably around the current 8800 Ultra's level of performance).
kpo6969: How does a GPU release work? Does nVidia get on the horn at (let's say) 9AM the day of release and say "Here they are!" and within a few hours vendors are listing them?

JJBlance: to reply (without sarcasim) and a little reasoning
1.I had checked at midnite on the 29th-nothing till 2:00AM
2.NewEgg is located in California-Pacific Time Zone
3.Office personal would start working at 9:00AM
4.I'm in the Eastern Time Zone
5.Had my card paid for, on Step 5, and shipped on the 29th. Received the 31st.
Anything else you want to know other than I've been running my 8800GT for going on 3 weeks, how many are still looking for them? Have a nice day.

No, the price isn't going to be redic. MSRP is $300 (512 MB) and $350 (1 GiG). Add 30-50 for gouging. I'd be more than willing to pay $400 for a 1 gig G92 GTS, period.

kpo: Hey man, hope you don't think I was being sarcastic. There was a bit of irony in there, but that was directed at the industry, not you.
In any case, I like that line of reasoning. I'll be using it come December 3rd.

When the 8800GT came out, was there any official annoucement a few days prior to confirm the release date? Right now the Dec. 3rd for the g92 GPS seems up in the air, and I'd really like to have that set in stone before I sit at the computer on New Egg refreshing like a fiend.

Sorta reminds me of the old Mervyn's television ad awhile back where the people were outside of the store and were all lined up to go in first thing in the morning. Then they were chanting "Open, Open, Open!" Hehehehehehehehe!

yeah me too.I have a GTS 640 for almost a year and i`d like ULTRA`s performance (or SLI them) for the coming months.Lets hope there are enough of those for start
Eh, a week and a half later, I can wait that long. I just hope they don't screw the pooch on this one and turn it into another 8800GT release (hell, the GT is still impossible to find). I have the patience to wait until the end of December, but that's it. Whatever I can get my hands on then is what I'm buying.

I can second that. Also on the east coast.
I was watching Newegg throughout the day. One by one the 8800GT's started to show up. I don't think they had the eVGA SC listed for more than an hour. Put it in my shopping cart, checked out and had it in my hands on the Nov 1st.
69 days before the trade up window closes. Think they'll have the GTX replacement before then? I hope so.
