Does expensive buildings have special bonuses?

When I build an expensive building, for example one that costs about 40,000
or 50,000 SimDollars and have a few hundred SimDollars of maintenance costs
(and sometimes it has prerequisites), what kind of bonuses can it give? If
it is nothing special, what is the sense of wanting to build it?

Helps commercial production in the area around it. More expensive buildings
have bigger impact.
