Both Western Digital Caviar Black hard drives are now on Newegg (well, the 750GB just got posted, the 1TB has been available for a few weeks):

Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $145 ($0.193/GB)
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $200 ($0.20/GB)

And still, no good reviews of the drives are available at any of the major sites (excluding the crappy review by Maximum PC Here).

What gives? Can we expect a THG review soon? Any rumblings from other sites? Any owners to give some insight to their performance?

Be patient, I'm sure the reviews will appear. Thanks for that one you linked. Incomplete but better than nothing. They like the Spinpoint more, but I understand it's less reliable and TBH that matters to me more than 5% more speed.

 

I'd rather buy two $90 640GB drives rather than one of these new 1TB drives at $200. It's more space, $20 less, and a lot more performance when you read from one drive and save to another.

True, I own 3 WD PMR drives currently in three systems (2x640, and 1x320), and I'm amazed how quiet, fast, and reliable they are, and again the $/GB is outstanding.
