motherboard and ram for a core 2 duo e6850

Hi all like the thread title suggests I am looking for a good motherboard and ram for a core 2 duo e6850 i have ordered for my next build. I am currently thinking about getting an msi p35 platinum mobo or a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 mobo and OCZ DDR2 PC8500 2048MB KIT, Reaper HPC ram, which would be the better of the mobos and if someone can suggest a better one I am all ears. (not an x38 one, too expensive) and would the ram be sufficient, mant thanks in advance.

well instead of OCZ DDR2 PC2 8500 REAPER, get OCZ DDR2 PC2 6400 REAPER

because DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) doesnt have alot of difference with
DDR2 1066( PC2 8500) and also DDR2 800 OCs very well too, i love mine
Then with the $ saved , go for ASUS P5K-E (Get the WIFI version if u want to OC, because it has better cooling )

Is your mind set on E6850? Because getting a Q6600 instead of E6840 seems better at this point since they are nearly the same price and Q6600 has two additional cores.

I was originally going to go for a quad core but my machine is primarily used for gaming and have been told by a few different ppl that it is overkill as most games don't take advantage of the quad core.

Thats correct for now but if you wanna use your new hardware for over 2-3 years consider getting a quad since they will be more supported in the following months.

By the way I'm not meaning that your friends were wrong in telling you to buy E6850, but if you are going to get a dual core, get E6750 instead of E6850 since with the money of a E6850 you can get a Q6600 which has 2 more cores and it can achieve 3.0 clock speed easily with overclocking.
