Need help in removing original os.

I have a dell pc it shipped with windows vista home basic in it.
after some time i installed windows 7 on a different partition (E: ) and moved my data from vista to 7.
now i upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8, all the files and settings of my windows 7 are as it was.
but now I want to remove windows vista and regain my disk space. I had seen on various sites that removing my old os will make the pc useless. so is there a way to remove vista without losing my data?
I have the dvds of vista ,7,8.

No there wouldn't be a way to delete Vista without loosing any other files. You will need to format the drive that has Vista on it. Formatting erasings everything from the drive
