I will be purchasing a new graphics card before Christmas and need a bit of advice....
I was settled on a 8800GT due to not being able to afford over 300 quid for a GPU. I was going to go for the 700mhz Asus GeForce EN8800 GT TOP 512MB.
Iv now heard that the 8800GTS G92 version is going to be released on December the third. After reading some of the benchmarking of the 8800GT vs the old 8800GTS I realised that the results varied. The GT came out on top in some test while the GTS beat it in others. Will this be the case for the G92 GTS? or will it just beat the GT hands down?
Also, if the release date is December the 3rd, when do you reckon it will hit stores in the UK. I usually buy my kit from oveclockers.co.uk.
-It is rumored that it will beat the 8800GT hands down, but I can't say anything for sure.
-It is rumored to cost ~$300-$400.
-Seeing how nVidia failed with getting out enough 8800GT, you may not see any G92 8800GTS in the U.K. on launch day.
I believe the new GTS will use the same manufacturing process as the new 8800GT which means it likely will be very hard to find.
It should be <300 pounds as it has been rumored to retail for $300-$400 in the US as the above poster stated.
My advice: if you don't have a problem spending a bit more, wait for the benchmarks to make sure it is faster then look quickly because they may be gone.
It will be faster, there is no question of that. And cooler. It will be an all around better card.
The release date has been pushed back a week and a half to December 12-14.
