hi

i bought WD6400AAKS and i have MB K7VT4A Pro

i dont see harddisik on startup, bios, xp installation, vista installation, mandriva installation....

what should be wrong ?

The first two images don't work.

The typical problems come from not having the correct connectors. You need to attach a SATA cable both to your motherboard and to the drive. Make sure the connectors are seated properly (i.e. they are pushed all the way in). Also, make sure to connect the drive to a SATA power connector.

If it still isn't detected, try connecting the SATA cable to the other SATA port on your motherboard (it looks like you only have two). You should also verify that SATA is enabled in your BIOS... sometimes it isn't by default on older boards (I had an old socket 478 board like that).

More Information

Early VIA Chipsets (KT800) were not compatable with SATAII and the drive had to be set for SATA1. The WesternDigital website had the FAQ for this with the jumper required.
