I'm looking to buy a motherboard with Sil5723 chips (all I found had max 2x2 ports, but I'd be looking for one with 5-6x 2ports). However, I would like to know what kind of performance these chips can provide. In raid 1, is it at least as fast as what the hard drive can take? What about Raid 0, compared to a 400$ Raid card for example? Is it a good solution to save money?

I'd love to see benchmarks (havent found any on google).

Also, if anyone is aware of a motherboard manufacturer that makes boards with more than 2x Sil5723, post link plz!

Thx

Anything like that and I'd reckon it'd be on high-end server boards only, you might be better off getting PCI or PCIe 1x add-on Sil cards instead.

Its actually on 200$ main stream motherboards, not server mobos.
