Forum Overclocking : CPUs Temperature Guide Question

I noticed that the b3 q6600 values have changed since I have last read them. I'm alittle confused as to what temps are correct, the new 1's or the old 1's.

If the new ones are, then I have set up my rig for temps too high for my processor.

I video encode alot and my cores frequently reach 60c while using Main Concept Encoder, 50 to 58c while gaming, and I prime to 65c

Did I do any damage to my processor running at these temperatures?

Thx in advanced

I'll leave Compu to explain it all, but you're fine. Under 65C is all good, the B3 Intel recommended specified max temp is around 62C, so it's fine really.

deranged, just as Evilonigiri suggested, your temps are fine. The changes to the Guide reflect new information for Tjunction (Core temps) which means that your Core temperatures are actually cooler than what is being indicated to you. As for Tcase, there are no changes. Please review the Guide again, with particular attention to the Findings in Section 5. Also, I recommend that you work through the Calibrations in Section 9, which is now simplified, so that you're confident Tcase (CPU temp) and Tjunction (Core temps) are both accurate.

Let me know how it goes,

Will this be a good build to overclock 2500k to 5.0GHz?
