I have a thermaltake Duorb already but I ended up getting an ATI HD3870.

Will it work with this?

the chip is 55nm so its much smaller, Think that will have a problem with heat transfur with the duorb? Am I better off leaving the factory coolers on untill I find something that is designed for these cards? Or will the Duorb work.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you're better off buying a heatsink that is meant for an ATI card like that because the fans for the heatsink are a bit far off if you were to rely on the transfer through the pipes so it's not even close to the card. The difference in the chip will cause a problem i think but if you already bought the Zalman i'd just test it and see how that works out through trial and error.

One of the best heatsinks I've seen firsthand would be the one palit has with their 8800 series, and it is right on the card with the fan close to the heatsink without pipes, therefore heat transfer isn't an issue.

Trial and error bud.
