This problem has been persisting for about 6 months, but I've never gotten around to finding a solution for it until now. 6 months ago windows would boot in about 10-15 seconds and games would load fast. One miraculous day, windows just started taking 2.5 minutes+ to boot in it's entirity and games like CS:S take noticebly longer to launch and start up. Applications such as steam have a similar problem. Sometimes, but rarely it even effects game performance. I haven't tried much. Right now I am taking the first step to defragment my drive. I anyalyzed it and windows said I should defrag it. It's been taking a LONG time. It's beem about an hour and it's 6 percent done. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be very grateful.
Check for utility programs or drivers that try to access the internet during or after boot-up looking for latest update. That includes windows and virus software. All of this slow down boot up process.
