Well I've heard so many great things about the Geforce 8800gt, but I don't know if I really need the power provided, considering I mainly play MMORPG games that seem to run fine on just about anything else, WOW, LOTRO, and etc.

I'm looking to purchase a card for about $125, give or take... and i came across the Visiontek Radeon X1950 PRO 256mb 256bit for about $104. I figured I couldn't go wrong with this card considering the price, but feel free to make any further suggestions.

If you can get a x1950xt in that price range I'd consider that, but the 1950 pro would be a good fit at that price range. You might also want to consider a hd 2600xt at the same price range. The HD 2600xt has better media capabilities and takes less power making it less likely that you will also have to buy a new power supply.

THerer is nothing wrong with the x1950 pro but it is getting a bit dated. The other problem is that if you get one of the cheaper versions the fans don't throttle and just sit at full speed all the time. And they are very loud.

My recomendation would be to up your budget a bit and go for a hd 3850. Its more power efficient quiter and more powerful. And it fully supports all the latest features.

WoW needs very little as far as video card power goes. LOTR does like something with a bit of juice though, but an X1950 PRO would be fine for that game. And for $104, that's a steal.

Power supply would be an issue though, what do you have? How many watts, and how many amps on the 12v rail?
