Hey, I know its at the point of the new 45nm CPU's. I realize that these things will be expensive, so it will be quite a while before I am at a point where I can get one. Anyway, what I wanted to figure out was, When would be a good time to get a Q6600? right now I have a Core 2 Duo (see sig), I hope the prices will drop when the "affordable" 45nm's are out.
E4400 >> Q6600 ??
When? Now?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Maybe wait till they drop their "Paper Tiger" in January and see if prices drop. Also, after Christmas you can hope some places try to flush out all the old to make room for the new. I think the Q6600 dropped $15-30 over the past few weeks. (I remember seeing it for 315.00 on new egg for a while. Last I saw it was back down to 279.00) The E4xxx chips have unlocked multipliers, don't they? Maybe you could do an OC and get the most out of your chip while you wait.
Yeah, your right the E4xx series is unlocked. Thanks for the reply, after christmas is probly a good time to look at an upgrade. I am gona OC, I'm just making sure I get a quality HSF first. Thanks.

The e4400 is not unlocked multiplier... its threshold is 10x it can be lower but not higher......
In the end id wait for the new Q9xxx as the lower end ones will more than likely beat the Q6600 at around the same price , run cooler and less power needed

Yeah, acctually It can't be higher than 10x. Thanks for correcting me, lol anyway if the new Q9xxx 45nm are around the same price, maybe I'll consider that. Thanks
