hey guys can someone explain to me what raid 0 is? my mobo is the msi p6n daimond it has 2 raid connection i believe color coded one red the other black.
Im just curious whats raid 0, how do u configure to use raid 0 , is there any performance difference using raid 0?

thanks. ok so i have one 500gb hardrive i use. so there's really no point of using raid since only having a few hardrives seem to benefit. right?

Yeah, you need more than 1 drive to make used of RAID..

RAID0 can only work with two hard drives. Each of them gets half of everything, and you MUST have both working to get it back out again.

Technically you might manage to create a RAID0 setup using two partitions (as logical drives) on one physical drive, but that would completely defeat the only real advantage of RAID0, which is faster access becasue the two drives involved move their heads independently. So nobody would try that.

The big appeal of RAID0 is faster access times, especially when using many smaller files. The downside is it is only half as reliable (i.e., twice as likely to fail sometime) because BOTH drives MUST be working, and when one fails, you lose everything - ALL your files - because the remaining good drive only has half of each file - every second block in a sequence.
