I think my PSU died (it was a Raidmax ATX12V). It turns on but no power seems to be going to my motherboard because nothing comes up on my monitor (although the fans are working so it could be the motherboard).

Anyhow, I want to replace the PSU to see if thats the problem. If its not, I'll keep the new PSU and start buying new parts.

So can I use a PSU that has a 20+4 pin with my motherboard that only has 20 pin holes? will the extra pins just hang outside the slot?

The PSU im eying is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817139003.

Yea, the first 20 pins are the same on either one. The extra 4 were added to a later standard. 20+4 just means it'll fit either. :)
