It was time to rebuild my machine after a virus which i just couldn't shift, and I decided to look at a RAID 0 using my motherboards (P5N-E SLI) onboard NVRAID. After slipsteaming the drivers into Windows XP Pro SP3 Install, windows was up and running the lastest drivers.

Here are the results of the RAID array using 2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA 3.0Gb/s 320-GB Hard Drives (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index. [...] 04090aRCRD).

Against my other sata drive.. (http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer [...] cd=HD501LJ)

This is where the problem lies, even though I can see the RAID Array is giving constant speed, it seems very slow for 2 SATAII Drives?!? am I going mad, on my last rebuild using these drives as standard drives with Windows XP Pro SP2 My system would boot in about 27 seconds to the logon screen, now it takes 47 seconds.

Just so you can see how they are linked up here is my Device Manager By Connection

So my question is espically with the Samsung running as a Standard Sata drive with higher burst speed, should I just convert them back to independant drives and remove the risk of RAID 0, which is only giving me a 20MB a second over standard?

For those that need to know my machine specs

Intel Core 2 Duo Q6600
2GB OCZ RAM (2x1GB Dual Channel)
650W Power Supply
2 x Poineers DVD-RWs (111L, 111D)
Nvidia 8800GTS
Agiea PhysX

If there are any more tests you would like me to run, or any other details you need.. please ask
