PCIe 2.0 Backwards Compatibility

Im planning to get an ATI HD3870 but im not sure whether it will work with my motherboard ECS nforce4-A939 because of it being a PCIe 2.0 card. I am currently running an ATI X850XT. Does anyone know whether the card will run in this motherboard because I can't find exactly what version of PCIe I have? Thanks
