Printer Installation

Why won't it install? I have the CD and windows XP. The install wizard says was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software.

What printer?
What's the precise error message, please, word for word?

Is this the HP 4400?

Please state the precise error message, and when do you get it, during installation or at the end?

To install the software, just double click on your CD drive in My computer. Run the setup to install the software, then connect, and turn on the printer.

If you double click on the optical drive, and it doesn't read the disc, try another disc in that drive. You may have a bad drive, or a bad disc.
