DirectX 10 for XP messed up my games?

Last response: in Windows XP

I was dumb enough to install dx10 for xp. As soon as I've finished installing it, FacCry2 gave me errors and so did Unigine Heaven on DX10. I've ran the uninstaller for dx10. The errors were gone but when I've checked dxdiag, the version of dx was still dx10. I choose to ignore that. After a few days, while I was playing cod-mw2, it suddenly stopped and a sound looped really fast in the background. I had to restart the pc. The same thing happened to assassin's creed, burnout paradise and others. It happens rarely but it does.
Now, how can I completely remove all directx files from my pc and then install a clean, dx9 version?

Thanks in advance!

Clean your PC with CCleaner.
It seems that the uninstall left system files behind - CCleaner might help in this issue.

tried that right after the event. Didn't work. I've used dx eradicator, installed dx 8.1 then dx9.0b and then dx9.0c. Now I get a warning in Ddxdiag:
"d3d9 is old and could cause problems" I've tried to update but I still have the same problem. :pfff:
If nothing works, I'm gonna reinstall Windows XP.
